For the past few weeks, I have been participating in a challenge designed by Mischa’s team called “The 30 Day Hustle Challenge”. It is a construct of habits used by great leaders, designed to bring focus and clarity to you in order to achieve your personal and professional goals. Our biggest purpose is to inspire growth, and therefore, we must inspire change. If we continue to do what we’ve always done, we will always get what we’ve always gotten.
We usually know we want to make some kind of change in our lives, we just don’t know where to start. So join me, by incorporating this morning/evening routine, along with a few daily rules, that will make a big impact on your day, and, your life.
Morning RoutineThe importance of starting a morning routine is to jolt you with energy, love, confidence and an open heart to start the day. We turn our unconscious mind into a conscious one filled with intention and gratitude.
FirstWe start the day with an ice cold shower. This leaves no room for contemplating or complaining. You jump out of bed and do it. Prove to yourself you can. This wakes you up both physically and mentally, providing the ideal foundation for thought and focus. The accomplishment of this task raises your dopamine giving you a sense of strength that you overcame something you didn’t think you could. This feeling you receive therefore increases your motivation for more accomplishments.
NextWe move on to “thought priming”. For this section we have borrowed the routine from Tony Robbin’s, world famous NLP coach and best selling author. (NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming: An approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy.) You can call this our “meditation session” lasting 10 minutes.
***During this entire morning routine, the use of any electronic equipment is prohibited. It is an intimate and extremely sensitive time that requires full concentration. The use of social media or reading terrible news all over the world right after getting up does not contribute to your well-being; and requires energy like everything else. Remember: Energy is limited. Save your energy in the morning so you still have enough of it to focus on the essential and much more important things in the day.
How much time you decide to dedicate to your personal development is entirely up to you, but the minimum is 10 minutes. Everyone has 10 minutes.
If you don’t have 10 minutes, you don’t have a life. -Tony Robbins
Evening RoutineIn the evening routine we review the day and reflect on it. We think about what went well and what could have been improved, to keep in mind how we might like to act differently in the future.
FirstWe think about the interactions we’ve had with others. Become aware of the situation and your behavior. How well did it go? Do I feel comfortable with myself? Did the other receive the best version of me? Was I 100% in the conversation and not elsewhere? Did I concentrate on my counterpart? This analyzation is significant because social skills and dealing with others are one of the most important abilities to perfect.
Reading provides you with vital information, trains your brain, makes you more creative and encourages your consciousness to remain present in the here and now. You learn not to become distracted and to control your thoughts. If you have 20 minutes to scroll on Instagram, you have 20 minutes to read!
